Steve Bannon Floats Worst Person Ever as Trump’s Successor
May 16, 2025Young people’s rights are under attack—but they’re fighting back.
It’s hard to choose the Trump administration’s most egregious attack on education in the U.S. this year, as they seem to introduce a new threat every week.
We’ve witnessed the appointment of unqualified figures to key positions, including Linda McMahon to lead the Department of Education, the gutting of the department’s budget, and outrageous executive actions like the “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling” Executive Order. Trump’s administration has rescinded Biden-era Title IX protections pertaining to gender identity, reversed inclusive education policies and allowed ICE agents to enter public schools and universities. Efforts to censor curricula that include honest discussions of race, gender and sexuality continue to escalate.
Human rights, sex education, gender studies and ethnic and racial studies belong in the classroom and are beneficial for all students. Unfortunately, in this climate, it is increasingly unlikely that students are receiving a full, accurate and affirming education inside the classroom.
Enter the Summer Activist Training Camp—a free online program open to high school and first-year college students of any gender who want to deepen their knowledge and sharpen their advocacy skills.
Participants will explore urgent issues like reproductive rights, the Equal Rights Amendment, LGBTQ+ rights, voting access and immigrants’ rights. They’ll hear from powerful speakers, connect with like-minded peers across the country, and gain the organizing tools they need to build real, lasting change in their communities.
In a landscape where young people’s human rights are under attack, we need to unite, educate and amplify the youth voices. Do you know a high school student passionate about social justice, democracy and creating positive social change? If so, invite them to apply for the SATC.
