Surgery Day – Beginning My Breast Cancer Flamingo Journal

I’m Still Here, Still Listening, Still Running
Every great community initiative begins with a conversation. I’d like to start one today.…
What If Our Community Adopted a Classroom?
One of the greatest investments we can make is in our children. Every day, teachers across New Braunfels pour their hearts into educating, encouraging, and preparing the next generation. Many of them also spend their own money on classroom supplies and learning materials simply because they want their students to have every opportunity to succeed.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how our community might come together to support those efforts in a meaningful way.
As a board member of the New Braunfels MLK Association, one of the ideas we’re exploring is a Classroom Adoption Initiative. While it’s still in the discussion stage, I believe some of the best ideas are shaped by the people they are meant to serve.
That’s where I’d love your help.
If you are a teacher, what kind of support would make the biggest difference in your classroom?
If you’re a parent, what would you love to see our community do for our educators?
If you’re a business owner, church, civic organization, or simply someone who wants to give back, is this something you could see yourself being part of?
I’m not looking for perfect answers. I’m looking for honest conversations.
New Braunfels has always been a community that shows up for one another. Time and time again, I’ve seen neighbors step in to help neighbors, local businesses support worthy causes, and volunteers give generously of their time and resources. I believe that same spirit could make an incredible difference in our classrooms.
Whether this idea grows into something larger or inspires an even better solution, your voice matters.
I’d love to hear your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions.
Please share them in the comments below. Your feedback will help shape future conversations about how we can better support the teachers and students who help build the future of New Braunfels every single day.
Together, I believe we can create something that makes a lasting impact.
