Why We Wear Red on Juneteenth
Last Thursday evening, my husband Donald and I were officially voted onto the New Braunfels Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Directors.
This means a lot to both of us.
Dr. King’s legacy is not something we only remember once a year. It is something we are responsible for carrying daily into our local community through service, education, unity, and the steady work of bringing people together.
New Braunfels is growing and changing, but the need for connection, respect, and shared responsibility has not changed. I am grateful for the opportunity to help support work that honors history, uplifts community, and creates space for people across generations to be seen and included.
Donald and I are thankful to serve alongside such thoughtful and committed board members. We are looking forward to learning, contributing, and doing our part to help strengthen this important work in New Braunfels.
I’m grateful for this next step, and I do not take it lightly.
