Last weekend my lil sister sends me a news alert that caught my attention. The headline read “Face mask shortage spurs”. The article called for seamstresses to help local hospitals by making and donating face masks.
It breaks my heart that there is a shortage of face masks to begin with. Why would anyone buy and hoard surgical masks from hospitals in order to make a profit? Especially with an active pandemic in play! What kind of person does that? Yep…a greedy and selfish person would.
I figured that this would be an excellent time for a sewing session with my two daughters. I mean seriouslly…what else did we have to do except ” quarantinin’ ” as my eldest would say lol.
So…after reviewing a number of patterns and of course revising all of them several times, I finally settled on one that made sense. With my favorite Spotify jazz playlist pumpin’ LOUD through the Google mini, we created this…
(my 13 year old bravely models my first draft)
So now we have plenty to donate, but the local hospital has one person that handles donations and she hasn’t returned my call. I hope she is well. If anyone knows of a place here in Fort Worth in need of masks, message me.
