Before We Gather: What This Day Is Actually About

Tomorrow April 25th, 2026, we are stepping into the creek.

Not just to clean it, but to understand it.

A lot of people see creek cleanups as a quick volunteer activity. Show up, pick up trash, take a photo, and head home.

That is part of it, but it is not the whole picture.

What we are doing is connecting people to the watershed they live in.

Every piece of trash we remove did not start in the water. It came from somewhere. Streets, yards, runoff, everyday decisions that eventually make their way into the creek.

That is how watersheds work. Everything is connected.

Cleanups are one of the most direct ways to see that connection up close.  

This event is built a little differently.

Yes, we will clean the creek.

But we are also going to talk about what we are seeing.

Why certain areas collect more debris.
How runoff works.
What actually impacts water quality here in Comal County.

This is hands-on, not abstract. The goal is not just to remove trash for a few hours, but to understand how it gets there in the first place and what changes it.  

You do not need experience.

You do not need to know anything about watersheds.

You just need to show up ready to learn, move, and be part of something that actually improves the space we all share.

Because this is not about one day.

It is about how we take care of this place over time.
